The Dominican Republic has the second largest economy in the Caribbean and Central American region, known primarily for its high sugar production. With a large gap between the rich and the poor, D.R. ranks number 14 in the world in resource mismanagement. While education for children between 5 and 14 years of age is free, kids only attend school half a day, compounding the illiteracy and education gap between social castes. The team will work with our longstanding partner, Outreach360. Their mission is to transform and empower individuals, families, communities, and countries through education. English is a highly sought-after skill in the Dominican Republic, and there are too few teachers to meet the need. The team will be living at an Outreach360 facility and traveling to a nearby school or community center to teach English. No Spanish or teaching experience required.
