Location: Jinotega, Nicaragua
Issue Area: Education
In Nicaragua, we will be working with our longstanding partner, Outreach360. Their mission is to transform and empower individuals, families, communities, and countries through education, hoping to end the debilitating cycle of poverty that is affecting the developing world.
This year, Pepperdine will be sending 12 students who will be working in the town of Jinotega, known as the “City of Mists.” It is located deep within the mountains of the coffee production country. English is a valuable skill in Nicaragua, with too few teachers to meet the need. We will be helping to fill that need by teaching English language skills and offering school-age children the chance to practice English.
We are very excited to volunteer with Outreach360 and make the most out of our alternative Spring Break. We all come from a diverse background and different majors, so this is going to be a great experience for anyone with an interest in working with children and seeking to end injustice in the education system. We kindly ask for your support in this task.
