Location: Antigua, Guatemala
Issue Area: Community Development
Guatemala’s total population lies at a little over 13 million, 21% of whom live in extreme poverty. A huge problem for rural Guatemala in particular is lack of access to clean drinking water, an issue faced by some 35% of the inhabitants. Our team will be working with Mission Impact, an evangelical mission agency that works alongside rural communities and villages in Guatemala sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
During our time in Guatemala, our team will work with Mission Impact’s full-time missionaries who have a long-term commitment to the communities in which they work. We will spend our week helping to educate kids at one of two partner schools as well as working on construction for sanitary latrines and water filters.
As we enter the communities of Guatemala, we want to work side by side with the Guatemalans to not only show our support, but empower them. This trip is not a service through giving, but partnering. In this mindset, our goal is to fulfill organic, lasting needs that are central to the lives of our Guatemalan brothers and sisters. Your prayer and financial support are key elements in preparing for what the Lord wants to do with this mission!
